As is OSH tradition, the final week before the Easter break sees three vital matches take place: Leavers vs Remainers. All played in front of large crowds on sun-drenched pitches during the last Senior Games session for Year 13 on Wednesday 9 April.
The leaving Year 13 netball and rugby players take on the remaining Year 12s (and Year 11s for rugby) in a high-stakes battle. Netball saw the Leavers take victory but in a shocking turn the Rugby Remainers beat Leavers 57-19!
The spectators made up of parents, friends and relatives and of course many Old Foleyans were treated to an absolute spectacle in terms of rugby with both teams playing with great ambition for this very special Tom Mole Cup. On this occasion it was the Remainers, captained by Foster boarder Harry D who ran away the winners, with a 57-19 margin victory.
Captain of the Leavers Ollie McCarthy, who earlier that day was presented with his 1st XV 50 cap tie, thanks everyone for attending and wished next year’s 1st XV all the very best. The trophy was presented by Simon Mole in memory of his son Tom formally of Baxter House, who passed away in 2017. This games holds particular sentiment for all OSH rugby players, not just for the kudos of the opposition but also because it shows tremendous team spirit from both sides.
