With a 100% pass rate in 15 subjects, the School has significantly improved its strong pass rate of A*-C with the best results in a decade. Particularly impressive performances have been seen in English, French, Geography, History, Music, Maths and Further Maths. OSH Sixth Formers now go off on the next stages of their journeys and we wish them the very best of luck for whatever their futures hold.

Director of Sixth Form, Mr. Rob Orr congratulates students by saying “There are some fantastic grades coupled with incredibly competitive points of destination amongst OSH’s Year 13 leavers. The number of students who have secured places on selective higher and degree apprenticeships, or competitive undergraduate degree programmes is impressive. This cohort has been a genuine pleasure to teach and they are a great bunch of young adults who will go on to brilliant futures.”

70% of the cohort will now move on to universities across the country, with particular favourites being the Universities of Cambridge, Durham, York, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham and Reading. A third are heading to Russell Group Universities; some of the top higher education institutions in the country. Alongside them, 10% of leavers are to begin degree apprenticeships with leading providers. Others are going into employment or taking a well-deserved gap year.

Congratulations to Ava Griffiths who has gained a place at the University of Cambridge. She will read Veterinary Medicine at Girton College after achieving AAAB in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Further Maths.

Harry Coffield secured top marks with A*A*A* in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Joining OSH in Year 7, Harry has been involved in pretty much everything the school has to offer and is a talented artistic. A maths genius, he entered every competition going including the Caius Explore essay competition with the University of Cambridge, which he won with his thesis on computer assisted proofs. He is of course going on to read Mathematics and has chosen Imperial College London.

Equally impressive are Xandre Escudeiro Fraga and Amelia Smyczek who both gained A*A*A; Xandre in in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and Amelia in Psychology, Biology and Chemistry. Xandra will now go to Bristol Veterinary School, and Amelia to the highly competitive University of Bath to study Psychology.

In the medical field, Ella Kenward is off to study Optometry at Cardiff University and Tahir Zada will study Medicine at the University of Birmingham after both achieving A*AB.

Triple As go to Head Girl Lottie Seager, Archie Docherty and Beth Rowlands who head to Durham, Bristol and Bath Universities respectively. Incidentally, Beth is the third of her siblings to come through OSH. Tash Schoch achieved A*BB and will read International Development with a Year Aboard at Kings College London. AAB was achieved by Jack Butterworth and Daniel Coleman, both of whom have been at OSH since Year 7, and to Zainab Fatima who joined in the Sixth Form. They now move on to the Universities of Lancaster to study Business, York for Maths, and Birmingham for Law.

Harry Parker-Kinnaird also gained AAB and will soon begin the much sought-after Grant Thornton Apprenticeship. Charlie Baird and Tom Attwood also start degree apprenticeships in Diagnostics Radiography in association with the University of Exeter, and Architecture in association with Aston University. Harry Walker also takes up an apprenticeship at Specsavers.

Commenting on these successes, Headmaster Paul Kilbride says: “Our students should be rightly proud of their achievements, just as we are very proud of them. They now go out into the wider world as capable young men and women, ready to make their own positive impact on it. We look forward to hearing about their continued successes and we hope that they keep in touch with their old school along the way.”
